JAN. 2014 Quik-Sketch Faces -GALLERY WALK -Bremerton
I will be quik sketching faces at the
Bremerton Bar and Grill
with one of my favorite mediums: charcoal pencil, this Friday, January 3d, at the downtown gallery walk.
* * * * * *   Time: 5PM until 8PM   * * * * * *
Address: 190 Pacific avenue, (Downtown 1 block from the ferry terminal) Bremerton, WA.  Besides the Pay to park areas of the downtown area, I believe there is free parking good for an hour after seven, on the side street right outside the door of the Establishment, at second street, I believe. Please check your smart phones, or call the establishment, or Diamond parking, if this is critical; I will check on this, and update...

See you there!!!

Latest development on the status

of my painting "LIFE'S DREAMS SPANNING":
Bad news, and good:
Unfortunately the painting will not be shown at the new establishment -THE BRIDGE, about to open in Manette, as it was not able to fit into the finely crafted theme of the new coffee company and deli, as Dave is billing the spectacular new spot(I've seen it), even though Dave liked the painting, and was as excited as I was at first at the prospect, of the inclusion of the large acrylic rendering of the Manette bridge of old, by an artist that was former resident of Manette -myself.
The fact is prospect of being rejected was looming large from the beginning, on this one, speaking from a practical point of view, although I held out hopes.  The painting Lifes....Spanning is extremely large, I must say, and when I got to Dave with the prospect of a new addition, he was already on the homestretch of a long involved process of sculpting this marvelous new addition to Manette, so I have to say :  No hard feelings Dave!!!
Happy New Year!!!  Best Wishes, and success!!!
!!!!And, Oh yeah; the good news on the home front: Included in the décor of the interior of THE BRIDGE, in Manette, on the wall facing as you walk in, is a print of another rendering of the Manette Bridge.  Interestingly enough this image was also very popular among buyers of my greeting cards this Holiday season,  a few images were offered teat were not holiday themed and "Proud Colorful Bridge" was one of them.  I never had one of my greeting cards that was so popular -so much so that I was completely out of them (twice, as I reprinted them once, by the time I -(the image below is of a later pallete knife rendering -not the rendering on the card, that I'm speaking of)-
-got to the Manette area with the cards, durring the last few days that I was offering them personally to the public.
 * * *   That just means that Manette residents will have to make it down to The Bridge along with everyone else to see the print version of the painting, if they are curious.
The original rendering; PROUD, COLORFUL BRIDGE was long ago purchased by Kevin Harris, of Port Townsend, who also purchased another -more than a dozen -of my plien-air originals, mostly my renditions of Port Townsend scenes.
Of the remaining paintings of the well know Bremerton landmark,  None of the roughly seven, or eight, paintings I rendered of the former landmark are in my possession, including the one that someone bartered with me for a car back about eleven years ago.  That worked out pretty well for me, as I drove the car a good bit, and sold the car still running fine about two years later.  Above is an image of that Palette knifed work, from twelve years ago which I rendered at a spot on the edge of the property of the Boat Shed Restaurant, in Manette -just a stones throw from the old bridge.
Hope people get in to try out the fare at the hot new spot in Manette and get to check out the print on the wall!!

The Bremerton Community of Manette is about to feature the Grand Opening of ....
The Bridge, a new Coffee Company, and deli, located on 11th Street.

A Marty David Painting
Life's Dreams Spanning may soon be installed as a center piece to the Restaurants Décor them of images of Bridges.  Owner Dave Brunette is scheduled to meet with me on Jan., 26th for a final preview of the Painting. "I want to be sure of the size of the painting and how it works as a centerpiece on the main wall before I commit to hanging it for sure as an addition to my theme."
Owner -David was quite impressed, and said he liked the painting, upon an impromptu viewing  of the piece, set up by me catching him by surprise at the site, as he was working through a phase of preparing his establishment with a commercial interior contractor, on Tuesday Dec., 17.
I feel there could not be a more perfect location for the painting which I rendered with acrylic on panel, featuring the old Manette Bridge, with a girl standing gazing in silent reflection.
